God’s Word is Fun!

Genesis 1:1-4 tells us, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was [became] without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”

The earth had gone into a major tailspin and in the following verses, God goes about re-establishing the earth.

In Verse 31a, it says, “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold it was very good.”

God is the creator of the heavens and the earth, and His written Word tells us of the greatness of all of His handywork.

Psalms 19:1tells us, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth his handywork.”

The reason I mention these verses is because I was raised in a church background and I never heard anything of how things came into being and of the greatness of God and His love for His people. I heard just the opposite and I heard God getting blamed for everything.

I’ve heard people say that men made up what we read in the Scriptures

If man made up what we read in the Scriptures, how can we believe anything that God says about Himself? There would be no integrity, no order to God’s Word and that’s the way it’s been for a long time.

Men have been making up what they think the scriptures should say and that isn’t an honest working of God’s Word. That’s not letting God’s Word speak for itself. It’s called religion!

We, who love God, do not believe that. I think it’s a trick of the Adversary to promote that kind of thinking, in order to get those of us who love God, to love the things of the world instead. I believe God’s Word backs this up, because God wants his people to know and understand Him.

The integrity of God’s Word stands first and foremost, otherwise, we might as well be watching the news on TV. We need the Scriptures to assure us that they are of God. This will help us to build our confidence in God. If you’re in it for the long haul, you need God’s love, mercy and grace in your life and that will help to build your believing in God.

You will always need to work God’s Word in your life; it never stops. Only with the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, will things be made right!

2 Timothy 3:16, 17 tells us, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.  17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

“Inspiration of God” means by revelation from God to men – God to man! This is what the senses man can’t make sense of, which puts him at a great disadvantage.

God’s Word goes on to give us more along this line.

2 Peter 1:21 tells us, “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

The word “moved” also means revelation from God. God can and did and still does speak to men and women of God and they in turn speak God’s Word to God’s people.

2 Peter 1:3 tells us, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”

It’s no wonder the Adversary doesn’t want us to know these wonderful things. He’s going to fight hard to try to make sure we stay ignorant of the things of God and therefore not living the more abundant life that God intended for us to live Well! We don’t have to let him get away with that.

God’s Word is full of verses that declare the glory of God and his goodness to His people. We need to put lots of those verses in our mind.

Because of the nature of life, the world encourages us to put a lot of strange things in our minds, and most of it is not good.

Colossians 3:15 tells us, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also you are called in one body, and be ye thankful.” What wonderful encouragement from God that is!

Paul told the Galatian believers in Galatians 1:11,12 “But I certify you brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man [that he didn’t make it up].  12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Paul knew they needed to know that it was God that was working in him to give them what they needed. What they needed, which is what we need as well, is God’s Word, His grace, his mercy, his peace and love.

When you’ve got that working in your life you’re going to see fruit of the spirit in your life:

Galatians 5:22,23 tells us, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

This is what I call a spiritual celebration. This is a very good thing and every born again believer can live this way.

That’s why the title says, “God’s Word is Fun” and it can be if you allow it to be. Let’s have fun with God’s Word!
